Terms of Service

The ground rules, in plain language.

Effective July 28, 2026
Please read this first: Nala is not a medical device and is not a substitute for adult supervision. It does not measure or monitor breathing, heart rate, oxygen, or temperature, and must not be relied on to detect or prevent any medical condition or emergency. Technology can fail — phones lose power, networks drop, alerts can be delayed or missed. Always ensure your child receives appropriate care and supervision.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Nala ("we", "us") and govern your use of the Nala mobile apps and this website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. Questions? Write to hello@stella.app.

2. What Nala is

Nala pairs your own phones into a private baby monitor: one device acts as the nursery camera, others act as viewers. Live video and audio are end-to-end encrypted between your devices. The Service includes features such as cry and noise alerts, two-way talk, lullabies and night-light, snapshots, event history, and — with a paid subscription — saved clips, sleep trends, and support for multiple cameras.

3. Who may use Nala

You must be an adult (18 years or older, or the age of majority where you live) to create an account. You are responsible for the devices you enroll and for anyone you invite into your family group.

4. Your account and your family group

5. Acceptable use

Nala is built for monitoring your own child, in your own home, by people with a right to be there. You agree to:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

6. Safety and no medical claims

Nala is a convenience aid, not a safety guarantee. Streams, detection, and alerts depend on your devices, their placement, battery, and your network — all of which are outside our control. Cry and noise detection is probabilistic and can produce false positives and false negatives. Notifications can be delayed, batched, or suppressed by your operating system. Never position a phone, cable, or charger within your child's reach, and follow the device manufacturer's guidance on charging and heat.

7. Subscriptions, trials, and billing

8. Your content

Snapshots, clips, and everything your camera captures belong to you. We claim no ownership of your content and use it only as needed to operate the Service (for example, storing your snapshots so your family can view them), as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for what you record and for ensuring you have the right to record it.

9. Our intellectual property

The Service, including the apps, design, and branding, is owned by us and our licensors and is protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the apps on devices you own or control, for private, non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and the applicable app-store terms.

10. Changes to the Service

We are a small team improving Nala continuously. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may discontinue the Service; if we discontinue it entirely or remove a core paid feature, we will give you reasonable advance notice, and you may be entitled to a proportional refund of any prepaid period through your app store.

11. Disclaimers and liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for failures caused by your devices, your network, app-store platforms, or events beyond our reasonable control. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims arising out of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose (or €50 if you paid nothing).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law — including liability for intent or gross negligence, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence — and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, or upon discontinuation of the Service under section 10. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as sections 8, 9, and 11) survive termination.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify you in the app before it takes effect; continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service and delete your account.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of our country of establishment, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live, which always apply. Consumers may bring or face claims in the courts of their country of residence.

Apple and Google are not parties to these Terms. Your use of the App Store or Google Play is governed by their own terms, and where their terms require, they are third-party beneficiaries of the licence in section 9 with the right to enforce it.
